Menai Strait cruises are a long established family run business, first established in the 1940s. Emrys Jones – the 6th generation of pilots in our family, an MCA Senior Boat Master runs the business, along with his experienced skippers, so you can rest assure that you’re in very capable hands.
Our 40 minute cruises on board the Queen of the Sea sail from the harbour in Caernarfon and from the Victoria Dock at low water.
If you fancy something faster paced than a cruise along the Menai Strait – as of 2016 we’re really excited to announce that we are now also running fast rib rides from Caernarfon Harbour (near the swing bridge). These will be 30 minutes along the Strait and 1 hour trips all the way down the famous Menai Strait to the Britannia and Menai Suspension Bridges or towards LLanddwyn Island.
Our season generally runs from April to the end of October, although weather permitting, we do run during the Easter weekend. Daily sailing times generally start at around 11.00am and run hourly throughout the day – whether you fancy a cruise on the Queen of the Sea or a faster pace experience on our rib ride we’ll tell you when our next trips are on the ‘dailing sailing times’ page.
In the height of the season we often run evening trips too – when the weather is good.
The Queen of the Sea is suitable for pushchair and wheelchair access. However, we can only get wheelchairs on at high water – because at low water passengers board from the back of the vessel and there are steps down to the deck.
Well behaved dogs are welcome to join you on your cruise on the Queen of the Sea 😉 we can’t offer the same on the rib rides I’m afraid!
The Queen of the Sea is licensed to carry 92 passengers and the rib rides 9 passengers. As a local business we’re proud to employ 10 local people and this year we’re increasing our workforce to 13 because of our brand new rib rides.
